Hello, California Democrats of Assembly District 14!
I’m Lisa Gardner, an activist, business owner, community volunteer, event planner and fundraiser, and mom. I am running for a Delegate seat in our assembly district to serve as a passionate voice for working families, Democratic causes and activism.
For over two decades, I have dedicated myself to strengthening our community, advancing Democratic values, and building coalitions to support candidates and policies. As a Delegate, I will bring my extensive experience in advocacy, fundraising, leadership and organization to ensure our party reflects the voices of all constituents in District 14.
Proven Leadership in Advocacy and Organizing
Following the 2016 election, I joined Sister District #13 to perform in-depth research on Democratic Party candidates, in red districts and states, and worked to support those districts in future elections. Later, as a member of the East Bay Activist Alliance (EBAA) and Neighbors for Progressive Action (NPA), I served on the fundraising and social media teams, amplifying the reach of progressive candidates and causes. Together, we raised funds and mobilized volunteers to make tangible impacts on local, state, and national elections.
I supported Delaine Eastin’s campaign for both her run for Governor (2018), and for Chair of the California Democratic Party, as her Speaking Scheduler and Research Assistant (2021). More recently, I worked on Lorrel Plimier’s campaign for Piedmont City Council, where she secured a win in her November 2024 election.
Currently, I am a 2nd term Recreation Commissioner for the City of Piedmont and I am working on the Program Committee for the League of Women Voters of Piedmont, where we are focusing on voter engagement, fundraising and defending democracy.
Dedicated Community Volunteer
My commitment to public service extends well beyond political advocacy. As a Girl Scout Troop Leader for 15 years, I co-led two troops for my daughters, organized enriching experiences, and spearheaded successful fundraising events. I have also been involved with the First Unitarian Church of Oakland, coordinating annual community life events and fundraising auctions; and with the Rotary Club of Oakland, co-chaired and volunteered for their annual fundraiser for two years.
Within the Piedmont Unified School District, I held pivotal roles as Vice President and President of the Wildwood Parent Club; Co-Chaired the Spring Fling Tri-School Gala, and served as a liaison for Piedmont Anti-racism and Diversity Committee, C.H.I.M.E. and ALPS. These experiences taught me the importance of collaboration, inclusivity, and persistence in achieving shared goals.
Priorities and Vision
The California Democratic Party must prioritize action and accountability. Our leaders and candidates should be measured by their commitment to advancing our values and platform, and they must be held accountable when they fall short. As we evolve our party platform, any updates must remain rooted in our core principles and values. We must be tireless advocates for the following priorities:
Climate Action: Take immediate steps to remedy the mounting climate crisis. Access to Climate Emergency preparedness. Maintain and expand environmental justice and open space preservation.
Human Rights: Access for ALL to affordable childcare, education, and healthcare. Build abundant, affordable, housing including for the unhoused, renters and homeowners. Continue to fight for prison reform and criminal justice; against economic inequality and poverty; and for just immigration policies.
Win Elections: None of it matters unless we WIN! Engage California Democrats with in-person and online education, with a unifying message. Increase in-person events to connect people with engaging, easy to follow calls to action. Build year round get out the vote messaging.
